A FLASH warning of heavy snow for the East of England has been issued by the Met Office for later this afternoon and this evening (Friday January 8).
Further heavy snow showers will feed in from the North Sea this afternoon affecting the areas of Essex, Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock
Accumulations of 2cm to 5cm of snow are expected with the possibility of up to 10cm in some areas.
The snow will start drifting in a freshening north-easterly wind.

The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice regarding traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.
