The Met Office has issued a yellow warning of rain for Essex until 9pm tonight (July 20), with a risk of heavy, isolated thunderstorms in the county.

Areas of heavy thunderstorms are expected to affect parts of Scotland and northern England this afternoon before slowly clearing away.

However, isolated heavy thunderstorms may still develop across Scotland and parts of England, including some central, eastern and southeastern areas this afternoon and this evening.

While most places in the county are expected to miss the worst, there is a risk of some localised flash flooding, with disruption to power also possible.
