A HOST of heavyweight celebrities will be among the guests at a boxing show at Linton's Chilford Hall on Sunday (December 6).

The evening, arranged by local club DC Boxing Academy Cambridge, will comprise 16 bouts, eight junior and eight senior, and will also include two female bouts.

The event has attracted some major stars from the world of boxing including former British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion, Scott Welch, who featured in the film Snatch with Brad Pitt.

Other boxing luminaries in attendance include former twice heavyweight champion of the world Tim Witherspoon and former world heavyweight champion Herbie Hide.

Mike Tyson's former sparring partner Big Joe Egan will also be on the top table, alongside John McDermott, a British Masters heavyweight champion boxer.

As well as the boxing, an auction will be held to raise money for the academy featuring some fantastic lots. The items going under the hammer include a signed picture of Mike Tyson, a Pele shirt, Jake Lamont shorts, a David Haye signed glove, Henry Cooper and Frank Bruno picture montage, a Ricky Hatton and Joe Calzaghe signed picture and a rare signed Mohammed Ali picture.

Event tickets cost �50 per person and include a sit down three-course meal, along with access to the VIP area to meet the celebrities and the opportunity to have pictures taken by a professional photographer.

Tickets for tables of 10 cost �450. A limited number of tickets will be available on the door on a first-come first-served basis for �20; these are limited access match tickets only.

Tickets can be purchased in advance from Mark Farrow, head coach at DC Boxing Academy Cambridge on 07590 262394. Doors open at 5pm, the three-course meal is served at 6pm and bouts begin at 7pm.
