A modern new learning area opened at a secondary school in Saffron Walden on November 2.

Named after former Headteacher, John Hartley, the Hartley Learning Centre in the Saffron Walden County High School has a new library, a computer suite, seven new classrooms, and ipad stations.

This was the final stage in building work around the school, that was possible because of £2million worth of grants.

At the opening, that John Hartley himself attended, headteacher Caroline Derbyshire said: “We are delighted to have this wonderful new space at the heart of the school.

“This, together with the new classrooms, means that County High continues to enjoy exceptional facilities. I am confident that students will love working in this inspiring environment.”
