Check this out - uplifting news for local charities and groups - all very happy with a mammoth £15,330 donation from the Rotary Club of Sawston District.

The tremendous donation was made possible following the Sawston Fun Run and Walk in May. It brings the cumulative amount donated to local Cambridgeshire good causes since 1986 by the hard-working Rotarians to a hugely impressive £382,150!

Cheques were presented to Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, £5,000; Little Shelford Sports Trust, £1,400; Centre 33, £1,400; Duxplay, £900; Granta School, £900; Sawston Cinema, £900; Stapleford Primary School £900, Sawston; Youth Drama, £780; Dictionaries for six primary schools, £600; Sawston Cricket Club, £600; Sawston girls football club, £550; Shelford and Stapleford Scouts, £500; Eddies [formerly Cambridgeshire Mencap], £500; Sawston First Responders, £400.

Sue Coles, president of the Rotary Club, said: “The Rotary club was delighted it could organise the event as the community clearly enjoy the chance to come together annually and it gives us an opportunity to help local charities and organisations. That such a large amount of money has been raised over the years is evidence of the attraction of the event and we are just pleased we can play our part in making it happen.”
