People gathered to see nine Morris Minors that were parked in Market Square to raise money for charity this week (Monday September 19).
One of the vintage cars is taking a road trip from John O’Groats to Land’s End, stopping off at every single one of the Morris Minor Owners Club’s branches, in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the club and also to raise money for Marie Curie.
The shaker buckets in Saffron Walden raised £172 for Marie Curie, a charity for people with terminal illnesses, while the cars were stood in the centre.
Jon Morgan, secretary of the Uttlesford branch of the club, said: “It went really well. The generosity of Saffron Walden people continues to be amazing. There was a great many positive responses, people remember learning to drive in a Morris, their parents had one, there were lots of nostalgic memories.”
It meets for every two months on a Tuesday at the Railway Tavern in Saffron Walden and anyone with a Morris Minor is welcome to join.
