A LADIES doubles tennis tournament has raised a total of 700 to help build a respite care centre in Thaxted.

Twelve ladies doubles entered the competition at the Grove Lawn Tennis Club in Saffron Walden on Wednesday June 16.

The winners of the cup this year were Tisha Hugg and Juliet Gadley and the runners up were Liz Stott and Katherine Fenn-Smith, while Rebecca Go and Helen Marks won the plate competition.

The event was organised by charity Rescu who will use the money to build a care centre for people with learning disabilities throughout Uttlesford and the surrounding area.
