NEWPORT'S Kimberly Horner took on the self-styled Queen of Mean and won when she scooped £3,070 on the BBC's Weakest Link.
The 50-year-old mother-of-two, who is originally from Duluth, Minnesota, triumphed in the quiz hosted by Anne Robinson last month and her success was screened on Friday.
Mrs Horner, who moved to Newport in September, said she went on the programme after gaining confidence from losing five stones in weight.
"Friends were telling me it would be very scary and I did get a bit of banter from Anne for being American, living in Essex and going to church, but about 80 per cent of it got cut from the programme.
Ms Horner won on sudden death against a young Cambridge University student having correctly answered that Reuben painted the banqueting hall ceiling at London's Guildhall.
Mrs Horner, who is a member of the New Life Pentecostal Church in Saffron Walden along with her husband Stephen, has already spent the money she won on clothes and trips to Belfast and Toronto.
