THOMAS Cook UK & Ireland has announced two new flight routes to be operated this summer direct from Stansted Airport.

The introduction of popular holiday destinations - to Kefalonia in Greece and Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt - will mean that holidaymakers can now fly from the airport to 18 hotspots to enjoy a summer retreat.

CEO of Thomas Cook UK & Ireland, Ian Derbyshire, said: "We want to make it as convenient as possible for our customers to go on holiday.

"By adding these extra summer flight routes from Stansted Airport, holidaymakers now have even more destinations to choose from, which are easily accessible from their local airport."

Thomas Cook already operates flights from Stansted Airport to the Canary Islands, Turkey, Greece, Crete, Balearic Islands, Cyprus and Tunisia.

Kefalonia, Greece

Flights to Kefalonia will run from May to October. With temperatures hitting 32 degrees Celsius in the height of summer, Kefalonia is a haven for beach lovers who want to soak up the rays. There are unspoilt villages and lush green countryside to explore. For a peaceful and relaxing holiday in the sun, Kefalonia is the ideal destination.
