An innovative new community publication has been created after two pro-active Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators spotted a gap in how location information is provided to village homes.
And as a nod to their community spirit, Newport street co-ordinators Susan Vance and Berenice Smith were nominated as the Uttlesford District representatives at last week’s Essex Neighbourhood Watch Member Awards.
The women were nominated as a result of their ongoing work in Newport.
The duo came up with an idea to hand out regular printed publications containing information about the area.
The initiative soon proved popular and Neighbourhood Watch in Essex has produced a series of versions across the district as part of a community strengthening initiative.
The two were rewarded at the member awards when judges presented them with third place.
