Mobile phone network O2 have announced that work will start this month to bring its 4G service to Littlebury, as well as improving 2G and 3G reception in the area.

Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, November 16, and subject to successful implementation and testing, customers will see an improved service in the following weeks.

The network has warned that residents may face an intermittent signal service while the work is carried out, but customers can download the O2 TUGo app to enable them to make and receive calls on any WiFi-connected device using their mobile number.

Derek McManus, chief operating officer of Telefónica UK, said: “O2 customers in Littlebury will soon be able to experience faster mobile internet on their devices such as streaming high definition TV, shopping on the go, and video calling.

“For our business customers, 4G is all about working more effectively. They can work remotely, access cloud services, collaborate using apps and so on. 4G will make everything easier for them.”

O2 have invested £600 million in service modernisation this year and the network has made a commitment to the telecommunications regulator Ofcom to provide indoor coverage for 98% of the UK population by the end of 2017.
