MEMEBERS of the Saffron Walden Skate Group were on hand to help the town council’s Operations Team by assisting with a major litter picking project.

The operation involved six volunteers and covered the whole of the town.

The event was organised by Terry Frostick, operations manager, who said: “It was great to get some additional help from the skate group and to see how proud they all are and the lengths they will go to take care of it and the surrounding area.”

The group choose to help out around the Lord Butler Fitness & Leisure Centre (site of One Minet Park), Peasland Road and the Common.

Beverly Young, chair of the skate group, said: “Terry Frostick and his team do a great job keeping the town council areas spick and span, but it was great for us to be able to get involved and help in and around the location of the skate park.

“It’s really important to us that the skate park environment is kept as clean and tidy as possible, so that everyone – old hands and inexperienced beginners alike – can come here assured of a safe environment.”
