TWO students at Felsted have been offered places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

Alex Temple-McCune, 17, has been offered a place to read Psychological and Behavioural Sciences at Trinity Hall, Cambridge whilst Freddy Bouttell, 18, has an offer to study Geography at Hertford College, Oxford.

Alex has already been recognised by the prestigious university this year, following a third place prize for an essay he submitted to the AS Level Essay Competition, organised by Cambridge University’s Psychology Department. Further to his studies, Alex holds the rank of Colour Sergeant in the Combined Cadet Force whilst also completing his Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Freddy, an Academic Scholar at the School, is undertaking the International Baccalaureate Diploma which has allowed him to study six subjects at higher education, keeping his options open. Despite studying six subjects, Freddy still finds time to represent the School’s First XI Football team and attends the Academic Society along with Alex.

The boys said: “We are both thrilled to have received offers and want to thank our tutors, Mrs Smith and Mr Pathak for all their help and support - we couldn’t ask for anything more. We’re going to put our heads down now and make sure we get the grades.”
