PARALYMPIC athletes have started jetting into Stansted Airport ahead of the London 2012 Paralympic Games that begin next Wednesday (August 29).
The Czech team were the first to touch down aboard a special charter flight from Prague on Wednesday lunchtime (August 22), while 100 competitors from Greece arrived on an Olympic Airways flight from Athens later in the afternoon.
The ‘Stansted Flyers’ were there to greet the athletes and ensure their transfer through the airport was as smooth as possible.
Around 70 non-operational staff have volunteered and trained to become Stansted Flyers. They are among the very first people the athletes see upon their arrival and provide a valuable meet and greet service.
