Paralympic athlete from Debden Green came seventh in the triathlon today (Saturday 10).

George Peasgood was first coming out of the swimming, and held the silver medal position for some of the race, but dropped down in the long distance run.

His time at the end was just over an hour, three and a half minutes slower than the winner, German Martin Schulz.

GB team member David Hill also competed, coming tenth.

George suffered an injury to his foot when he was two years old and although he has had reconstructive surgeries, the leg is still restricted.

Interviewed afterwards on Channel4, he said it was a “great race by me and the team”.

He added: “It’s one of the great things about the triathlon, it’s three disciplines.”
