Soldiers were joined by members of the public and local dignitaries to mark Remembrance Sunday in Saffron Walden.

The town fell silent for two minutes at 11am as those who served and fell for their country, in the two world wars and later conflicts, were honoured with a wreath laying ceremony at the war memorial.

A memorial parade, including soldiers from Carver Barracks, as well as scouts, guides and veterans, then made its way to St Mary’s Church for a service.

A two-minute silence will also be held by the war memorial at 11am on Tuesday (November 11) to honour the exact anniversary of the armistice.
