AFTER a successful year, a Saffron Walden theatre company has donated some of their profits to a charity which helps children affected by bullying.

The Saffron Players presented a cheque for £500 to Red Balloon in Cambridge which provides full-time education for children aged between 10 and 17 who are unable to go to school because they have been severely bullied.

Once the students have regained their confidence and are able to cope academically and socially, the charity supports them in their return to mainstream school, their entry to further education or to employment. For more information on Red Balloon visit www.redballoonlearner.co.uk

Saffron Player John Byatt visited the school dressed as a large colourful parrot - a character from their upcoming production of Treasure Island.

The pantomime will be performed in Saffron Walden Town Hall on January 15, 16, 17, 22 and 23, with matinees on January 16, 17 and 23.

Tickets cost £5.50 each or £5 each for parties of 10 or more and can be purchased from the Saffron Walden Tourist Information Centre on the Market Square.
