JOIN the crew of the Hispaniola in Saffron Players January pantomime, Treasure Island, for a story of lost treasure, pirates, a large colourful parrot and, of course, Long John Silver and cabin boy Jim Hawkins.

This year's pantomime has the usual mix of silly jokes, an exciting storyline, daft characters, lots of songs and music, and plenty of audience participation.

The pantomime is being held at Saffron Walden Town Hall on January 15, 16, 17, 22 and 23, with matinees on January 16, 17 and 23.

A Saffron Players spokesman said: "We would like to extend our gratitude to Guy Chesham of Backpack who has been our 'box office' for many years and wish him a happy retirement."

This year the tickets are being sold in the Tourist Information Centre on Market Square. Tickets are 5.50 each or 5 each for parties of 10 or more.

Beat the post Christmas blues and the recession by turning up and witnessing good quality family entertainment at as low a price as possible.

"Good ticket sales mean we are able to give generously to local charities too - watch out for details," added the spokesman.
