Plans to build a new nursery with outdoor play and parking in Great Chesterford on vacant land behind the community centre have been submitted to the council.

A planning application to create a new independent facility for nursery and pre-school-aged children under one roof in the village was submitted to Uttlesford District Council (UDC) last month.

The nursery will include a kitchen, dining area, staff area and office, as well as outdoor play areas with two artificially-turfed spaces and an area of hardstanding.

The site will also include a drop-off area for parents, with 20 car parking spaces at the back of the nursery, and access will be directly off Newmarket Road - the same as currently used for the community centre.

Anyone who would like more information should visit to view the planning application, with the reference number UTT/16/3182/OP.

Alternatively, people can see the document at the council offices on London Road.
