A police helicopter was scrambled to Saffron Walden on Monday to search for a house intruder

A police helicopter was dispatched to Saffron Walden in the early hours of Monday (February 29) after an attempted house burglary.

Police were called at 2.25am by a woman, who reported she had woken up to find someone in her house in Gabriel Street, in the Tudor Park Development off Ashdon Road.

The intruder entered via the kitchen window, but nothing was reported as being stolen in the incident.

The police helicopter search, which woke residents in the vicinity, wielded no results.

The suspect is described as a 6ft tall white male, of stocky build, who was wearing a dark coloured balaclava and a dark coloured jacket.
