A CCTV image has been released of a woman police would like to speak to in connection with the theft of a handbag from a Saffron Walden shop.

Officers were called to ladies clothing store Ruby Room, in the High Street, at around 3.30pm on Tuesday, January 17, after an elderly victim, aged in her 80s, discovered her handbag was missing.

The handbag, which was inside the victim’s shopping trolley, had her house keys, bank cards and a two-figure sum of cash inside.

The suspect is described as slim, dark skinned and wearing a black head scarf.

Employees at Ruby Room shared the story on social media and said many people have come forward to fund a new handbag for the victim, as well as the garments she was hoping to buy.

Anyone with information is asked to call Pc Emery at Great Dunmow Police Station on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
