DRUG users in Essex have been warned that a dangerous batch of cocaine could be in circulation after two people were taken to hospital with suspected drug poisoning.
Police and the East of England Ambulance Service issued the joint warning after it was confirmed that both patients had taken the drug.
An 18-year-old man from Chelmsford is currently undergoing specialist heart treatment at Basildon University Hospital after ambulance crews were called at 8am on Saturday (April 28) to reports that he was having difficulties breathing.
Another patient, from the Tiptree area, was taken into intensive care at Broomfield Hospital on Friday after ingesting cocaine.
A police spokesman said: “Regular drug users are reminded not to source substances from unknown suppliers while others are advised to refrain from ingesting illegal drugs.”
