YOUNG people and police officers will go head-to-head in a pool competition in Saffron Walden on Tuesday.

The free competition is open to Saffron Walden teenagers aged 13 to 18.

There are prizes up for grabs for the best players and there will be free refreshments.

The pool tournament is the result of collaboration between Essex Police and Saffron Walden Youth Centre and it is hoped that it will enable youngsters in the town to see the police in a different light.

A youth centre spokesman said: "I hope it will be the first of many."

The competition will take place at 7.30pm prompt in the Youth Centre at Fairycroft House on Audley Road.
