A woman was assaulted by man who broke into her home in Stansted and stole her handbag last month.

Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident, which took place at around 4pm on April 4.

The man gained entry to the house in Cambridge Road and conducted a messy search of a bedroom.

The victim, a woman in her 60s, confronted the suspect and was assaulted, before the man made off with a handbag.

Bank cards, which were in the bag, were used at a cash machine in Bishop’s Stortford less than half an hour later.

Anyone who recognises the man pictured is asked to contact Dc Greg Najdan at Braintree police station on 101.

Alternatively, anyone with information about the incident can contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111 or click here to visit Crimestoppers’ website and report it online.
