Police step up patrols after reports of gunman in Dunmow

POLICE have stepped up high visibilty patrols in Dunmow following reports that a teenager was seen with a gun.
Officers confirmed they are investigating the incident after receiving calls that a man was “seen with what has been described as a gun in the waistband of his trousers” in the area of The Poplars yesterday afternoon (Thursday January 24).
They have not though, received calls of the weapon being brandished or used.
An armed search of the area was carried out following the calls at 3.50pm and a search was also completed by a police helicopter.
The suspect is described as white, 5ft 9ins tall, aged approximately 15, of skinny build, wearing a grey tracksuit with his face partially covered with a scarf.

Police have said they are aware of residents’ concerns and have increased high visibility patrols in the area.
