A map of sites across Uttlesford which landowners have put up for development has been published.

The district council on Monday (December 7) revealed the results from its Call for Sites which took place between April and June this year.

The map, which includes large settlements at Great Chesterford, Dunmow, and land between Stebbing, Great Saling and Rayne, will go on to help form the Local Plan.

Planners will investigate the sites for their suitability and will take into consideration the results from the consultation which ended on Friday (December 4).

A refined plan will then be published early next year and will undergo another consultation.

The bigger sites include a 5,000-home development at Great Chesterford between south east of the A11 and north east of the B184, a further 2,500 homes at Field Hall Farm, also Great Chesterford, up to 10,000 homes at Easton Park north west of Great Dunmow, 4,500 homes at Broxted Wood and 7,500 homes on land centred at Saling airfield.

In Saffron Walden, 15 sites have been put forward. These include land north and south of Thaxted Road for up to 300 homes, to the east of Ozier Court for 165 houses, between Shire Hill and Radwinter Road for up to 450 homes and Bridge End Farm at Windmill Hill for 400 properties.

Land at Cole Lane, Sewards End, has also been put forward.

The largest of the 13 sites in Newport parish are space for 200 homes on land south of Wicken Road, up to 142 at School Lane and 94 at London Road.

At Elsenham, included sites are at land north east of the village for between 800 and 4,000 homes.

In Dunmow, 18 sites have been put forward by landowners, including Helena Romanes School which could make way for 200 homes. Land west of the town has been nominated for 400 homes, as has land at the north for 750 homes.

A site at Park Road, Little Easton, which could accommodate 950 homes, has also been put forward.

Sites put forward around Takeley include two pieces of land north of Priors Green which will take 1,500 and 1,700 homes each and a site east of Stansted Airport, which could feature an indeterminate number of houses.

Six sites have been identified around Birchanger. One of which surrounds the village, between Stansted Mounfitchet, Bishop’s Stortford and the M11.

West of Stansted Mountfitchet has been put forward for 720 homes and is one of the 23 identified sites.

Three plots of land for a total of 1,830 houses at Little Dunmow will be investigated.

A total of 19 sites have been put forward around Thaxted, the largest two are land at Walden Road for up to 120 homes or land south of Sampford Road for 369 houses.
