Children from primary schools in and around Saffron Walden well and truly got into the spirit of World Book Day last week when they dressed as some of their favourite literary characters.
Pupils from Katherine Semar Junior School, St Mary’s Primary, R.A. Butler, Debden Primary, Thaxted Primary and Linton Heights all took part in the day, which was held in the UK and Ireland on Thursday, March 3.
Harry Potter, Willy Wonka, The Twits and Little Red Riding Hood were among some of the fabulous outfits on display, with teachers and staff also joining in the dressing-up fun.
World Book Day began in 1995 in the UK, and is designed to encourage reading skills and develop the imagination of children by celebrating some of their favourite authors.
