THE spirit of the Brazilian carnival spread throughout a school when children made colourful masks last Wednesday.

Youngsters at Newport Primary School learnt about the lives of children from other cultures and had lots of Samba-inspired fun.

The school celebrated a week of activities looking at some of the cultures in many different parts of the world.
