THE Radisson Blu Stansted has picked up another award for its environmentally-friendly practices at the ultra-contemporary hotel.

The hotel fought off competition from Ford Motor Company and Ramsay Springfield Hospital at the Essex Business Awards, held in Southend-on-Sea on May 10, to be awarded top prize in the Environmental Awareness category.

Radisson Blu Stansted is particularly proud of its eco credentials having already gained the Gold Award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme, and has become a green flagship hotel on behalf of the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. Thanks to the hotel’s Think Planet’ initiative it has pledged to further cut energy consumption by 25 per cent over the next five years.

Fergus O’Donovan, general manager, said: “We take our commitment to the environment very seriously and every member of staff is trained to ensure they ‘Think Planet’ in every aspect of their working lives. Thanks to our staff’s dedication we’re on target to saving £100,000 worth of energy costs this year.”

The hotel is also keen to spread the green message to others within the local community, and has supported local litter picking initiatives, and invests its financial savings into funding community projects.
