The first happened at a cottage on Bartlow Road in Hadstock, between 7.10am and 7pm on Monday March 17.

A rear window on the detached property was forced open, before burglars searched the premises but stole nothing. Damage estimated at £300 was caused.

The second burglary happened in The Maltings, on Radwinter Road in Ashdon, between Thursday March 13 and Monday March 17.

Burglars got into the house through a side window before carrying out an untidy search and stealing jewellery and silverware worth £1000.

Police are keen to identify the owner of a green Rover seen in the village late on the Monday afternoon.

Anyone who thinks they may be able to help with the investigation should contact Saffron Walden CID on 01799 513232.
