An incident where a child was approached by a man in Linton appears to be a prank, officers have said.

Police were called to the village at 4pm on Tuesday, October 13, after a man on a bike was alleged to have tried to talk to a child.

However, after investigation, Sergeant Sandra Davidson said: ““Following an investigation we have been able to establish that the incident on October 13 was in fact an unpleasant prank.

“We continue to investigate the incident on October 19 but would like to reassure people that this appears to be an isolated incident. We would, as always, encourage parents to reinforce the message to children that they should never get into a stranger’s vehicle.”

A second incident, where a child was shouted at by a man in a car on October 19 is being treated as a nisolated incident.

Anyone with information about the incident on October 19 should call police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, via crimestoppers-uk.org or on 0800 555111.
