A painting by a former student was presented to Saffron Walden County High headteacher John Hartley on the penultimate day of his 38-year career.
Mr Hartley received the oil painting by Emily Dan, who left the school in the summer for study architecture at Cambridge University, at the County High’s Alumni and Celebration evening.
Former students returned to the school to collect their A-level certificates and catch up with friends.
Mr Hartley retired on Friday (December 18) after 12 years at County High.
