BUDDING filmmakers have entered an assortment of minute-and-a-half masterpieces into a competition organised by community cinema Saffron Screen.

A special screening was held at the cinema, based at the Saffron Walden County High School, last Sunday to showcase all of the entrants in the 90 Second Film Competition.

Chairman of Saffron Screen, Rebecca del Tufo, said: "We were delighted by the number and quality of the entries, which the judges thoroughly enjoyed watching.

"We would like to thank Brainwave Media Ltd, a local video production company, which assisted with filmmaking advice and in judging the competition."

Fourteen entries came from filmmakers of all ages with films ranging from documentary to comedy, action and animation.

The joint winners were Reality Check by Joe Preston and Barking Mad by Pug & Mike. The runner-up was Twist by Edward Chancellor, Mat Blower and Josh Terry.

Everyone will have the opportunity to see the winning films when they are shown before Saffron Screen's feature films which are being shown in December.
