SERIAL fund-raiser for the Home Farm Trust, Danny Long, had his hard work rewarded by meeting Her Royal Highness Princess Anne.

Mr Long, of Whiteshot Way, Saffron Walden, was invited to meet Princess Anne in recognition of fund-raising work spanned 20 years.

He said: "I arrived at the Army and Navy Club in Pall Mall at around 11am, before meeting Princess Anne about 45 minutes later.

"There were a good 200 of us there and she came around and spoke to each of us individually.

"I've spent a lot of time in the building trade and I was impressed to discover that the princess actually knew a fair bit about it."

Mr Long has undertaken more than 400 walks, runs and cycle rides, including some 35 full marathons.

He said: "I got involved with raising money for the HFT through sponsored cycle rides then one thing led to another."

These events have seen him running in Rotterdam, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Malta, Israel, New York and Cyprus.
