Low cost airline Ryanair has announced a new route from Stansted to Athens, as well as additional frequencies to Thessaloniki which will operate daily from April 1.

2014 will be the first summer where customers can take in the airline’s recent service improvements including allocated seating, a small second carry-on bag, an easier website booking platform and quiet flights before 8am and after 9pm.

Ryanair celebrated its new route by releasing 100,000 seats on sale at prices from £16.99 for travel in February and March, which are available for booking until midnight Thursday (January 16).

Ryanair’s Maria Macken said: “We’re pleased to announce a new route at London Stansted to Athens plus additional frequencies to Thessaloniki which will operate daily from April 1.

“Passengers in the east of England will have a choice of six Greek routes this summer giving them more choice than ever on Ryanair’s low fares summer routes. Ryanair’s new Athens route and additional frequencies to Thessaloniki will go on sale on ryanair.com tomorrow with fares starting from £24.99.”
