The Saffron Academy Trust is celebrating after one of its schools received a ‘good’ rating from Ofsted.

Alec Hunter Academy, in Braintree, is one of the Trust’s secondary schools and was told the news after an inspection during the penultimate week of the summer term.

Trevor Lawn, headteacher, said: “We have received excellent support from our partner school, Saffron Walden County High, and our productive relationship with them has contributed significantly to the raising of standards at Alec Hunter.

“I am confident that this outcome will only serve to strengthen the bonds between our schools, for the benefit of all our young people.”

When inspecting a school, Ofsted assesses its effectiveness of leadership and management, and quality of teaching, learning and assessment.

These were all rated ‘good’ by the school, apart from its outcomes for pupils which ‘requires improvement’.
