Friends, members, business associates and employees of Saffron Building Society have, in a combined effort, raised in excess of £1,400 for charity.

Over £600 was raised at a quiz evening held at Chesterford Research Park’s central facilities building, The Nucleus. The money will go into Saffron Building Society’s Community Fund to be bestowed as grants to local causes. Last year’s donations included helping Riding for the Disabled (Saffron Walden) to fund the livery for ponies used to provide therapeutic horse riding opportunities, and Mencap Saffron Walden to provide outings for elderly carers.

Meanwhile, staff at the building society’s Saffron Walden branch hosted a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and raised £800.

Saffron Building Society will soon be announcing the local organisations that will benefit from grants from its Community Fund during 2014.
