AWARD-WINNING micro producer, The Saffron Ice Cream Company, was crowned ‘Best New Essex Company 2012’ at this year’s Essex Business Awards.

Competing against hundreds of applicants and facing tough questioning from the judging panel, The Saffron Ice Cream Company - which has been operating since November 2009 - was announced the winner at a black tie event which took place at Boreham House, Chelmsford on Friday October 19.

The judges considered every aspect of the business from its business plan and achieved success, to its growth rate and future aspirations, commenting that ‘the business had shown exceptional results in a tough competitive marketplace and had an exciting future ahead’ .
