A Saffron Walden apprentice has scooped a top award as Apprentice of the Year in horticulture, trees and timber.

Hayden Plumb, 19, was presented with the award at Brome Grange near Diss by Easton and Otley College on Wednesday, 8 March, receiving the highest award for his category.

He said: “I am really happy to receive recognition of my work and performance over the last 18 months and I have learnt so much from working at TKE Landscaping.

“I would like to thank my work colleagues and Vicky from Easton and Otley College for all the support and training they have given me. I cannot thank them enough for this and it was an unexpected surprise to receive this award.”

TKE Landscaping, based in Wendens Ambo, was established by Tarquin and Tracey Ellington in 1995.

Tarquin, director of TKE Landscaping Ltd, said: “We are very proud of Hayden’s performance. He is a very focused and conscientious worker and we feel he rightly deserved this award for all his hard work.”
