ARE you passionate about the arts? If you are enthusiastic and want to be actively involved in promoting the arts, then the Saffron Walden Arts Trust would like to hear from you.

SWAT has been providing practical support to artists and performance organisations to enable them to showcase their talents. In recent years the trust has been involved with a number of initiatives in the town, including running the Riverslade Gallery in Hill Street, organising arts festivals in the town centre, running open studios events and craft fairs, maintaining the ArtsInWalden.com website and recently, facilitating a sculpture in Dorset Garden.

The trust is run by a small and dedicated committee, many of whom have been actively involved for over four years. Chairman Peter Upson said: “This July, several members of the committee will not be standing for re-election and we are looking for people with new ideas and enthusiasm to join the team to carry on the work. Sadly, the continuance of the arts trust is at risk if we cannot fill the officer roles.”

If you would like to find out more about what is involved, contact Mr Upson (peter.upson@virgin.net or phone 01799 550842), or attend the AGM on Wednesday July 18 at 8pm in Saffron Walden Town Hall Committee Room.
