AN ARRAY of products from more than 60 traders was on offer at the Saffron Walden Autumn Food Fair on the weekend.

A variety of stalls filled two marquees on Saffron Walden Common and children's entertainment and refreshments were available outside.

Organiser Dennis Steed said: "It was very successful and we had about 15 new traders this year. We had lots of visitors on both days who had come from far afield.

"On Saturday the traders did very good business and Sunday was a bit quieter, but that was probably to be expected because there was a lot going on such as the Walden 10k race and apple day at Audley End.

"Cup cakes were very popular this year and there was a chocolate fountain which was new. A number of crafts were on offer such as marble and wooden carvings and we even had a cookery school selling lessons."

The food fair ran from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday and had 62 stalls, many of which were selling locally made products such as preservatives and fresh produce.

The food fair was a not-for-profit event but any money made will be donated to the Gurkhas, who provided the security, and to a charity chosen by the soldiers at the Carver Barracks in Wimbish.
