Bosses at the Saffron Walden branch of Barclays were left red-faced this week after erecting a sign which spelt the name of the town incorrectly.
The opening times sign, which was put up last Thursday (October 20), reads: “Welcome to Barclays Saffron Waldon”, and many residents have noticed the embarrassing error.
A spokeswoman for Barclays said: “We apologise that the branch opening times plate that has recently been erected on our Saffron Walden branch has ‘Walden’ spelt incorrectly. A new plate has been ordered to replace it.”
The sign is expected to be taken down as soon as possible.
