Hundreds of people lined the streets of Saffron Walden last week to watch this year's carnival procession make its way through the town.

The parade was a spectacle of colour as it travelled from The Common and down the likes of East Street, Mount Pleasant Road and London Road.

Leading the procession was Carnival Queen, Mollie Blake, and her attendees, followed by town mayor, Councillor Dr Richard Freeman, and a host of colourful creations on cars, lorries and even tractors.

The Saffron Walden Ice Cream Company was among the procession, as well as The Laughter Specialists, Castle Rock and Lord Butler Leisure Centre.

The carnival is part of the town’s 8-Day Weekend, and has also included a performance by X-Factor runners up, 5 After Midnight, and an outdoor movie screening.
