Staff at Saffron Walden County High School traded their cars for bicycles as part of Cycle to Work Day 2017.

The riders, of which 20 took part, arrived at the school having travelled from the likes of Much Hadham, Histon, Haverhill and Bishop’s Stortford.

No doubt spurring them on though was a tasty bacon roll waiting for them at the school gates.

Graham Oxborrow, assistant head and organiser of the event, was delighted with the turnout.

He said: “I was really pleased that so many of our staff took part to highlight the health and environmental benefits of cycling.

“Many of the cyclists were able to use the cycle route between Audley End and Saffron Walden, but for others their journey highlighted the difficulty of cycling safely to the school from Saffron Walden itself.”
