A festival of steam engines, the Saffron Walden Crank Up takes place in Newport over the weekend of May 13 and 14.
The event dates back to the 1970s, when, until the early 2000s, it was held by enthusiast, Paul Engelman at his home in Shire Hill.
In 2015, the East Anglian Traction Engine Society, with Paul’s permission, revived the Crank Up on a new site. It proved so popular that it will be held again this year near a venue called Just Like Wendy’s in Sparrows End, Newport.
A number of exhibits have been promised to attend, including huge steam traction engines, miniature engines, vintage vehicles and tractors, stationary engines.
There will also be a beer tent, hot and cold refreshments, traditional children’s funfair, craft tents and trade stands.
Entry is £5 for adults, children free. Postcode: CB11 3TU, just off the B1052 near the junction with the B1383. The event will be AA signposted.
