Saffron Walden kids get flipping for Pancake Day

Youngsters in Saffron Walden got into the spirit for Pancake Day.
Children in Friends’ Junior School’s nursery and Reception got competitive with pancake races.
They had spent the rest of the morning making pancakes and poetry.
Elsewhere in the district, Shrove Tuesday also saw passengers at Stansted Aiport compete to be the top flipper.
Charity CLIC Sargent, jointly organised by the airport and JD Wetherspoon, pitted passengers against each other to see how many flips they could manage in a minute.
The winner was Claire Stancliffe, who was travelling to Seville, Spain, for a football tournament with St Johns Deaf FC.
Viv Bambrough, Stansted Airport’s terminal co-ordinator and chairman of the airport’s charity committee, said: “Both passengers and staff had a brilliant time, and, to top it all off, we managed to raise money for a fabulous charity.”
