GUIDES, Brownies and Rainbows from Saffron Walden District brought their Centenary celebrations to a close recently.

At 20.10 on October 20, over 150 members met together at St Mark’s College, Audley End. In a moving ceremony round an open fire, everyone renewed their Guiding Promise, while sky lanterns were set off to signify our aspirations for the next 100 years of Girlguiding.

A spokesman said: “The ceremony was the culmination of an outstanding Centenary year, with countless exciting activities for all groups. These have included a Rainbow Princess Party, Brownie Circus Day, Guide outing to London and a District Camp for 150.

“All events have been hugely successful and we are looking forward to the next 100 years with eager anticipation.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank Saffron Walden Round Table, Waitrose, Saffron Building Society, the Lionesses and the Inner Wheel for their financial contributions which have enabled us to celebrate our Centenary in a truly memorable fashion.”
