A bagpipe player also called at Croft House Care Home, where residents celebrated with Scottish-themed tea and cake.

Mrs Badenoch, who was shown around the care home by staff, said: “It was lovely to visit everyone at Croft House Care Home and experience such a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Many residents aren’t able to attend my surgeries, so it was nice to be able to answer any questions.

“It’s important that we support older people in our communities and the dedication from staff at the home is inspiring. I enjoyed discussing how we can help make older people feel safer and combat loneliness.”

Interim home manager, Kim Eagleton said: “It was a pleasure to have Kemi join us. It’s great to see her support for our community.”
