A TWO minutes’ silence has been held in Saffron Walden to mark Armistice Day.
Around 50 people braved the rain to turn out for the occasion held at the war memorial at the top of the High Street, before Rector of St Mary’s Parish Church, Rev David Tomlinson, said a few words and led the Lord’s Prayer with those present.
The moment commemorated the armistice signed between the Allies and Germany to stop the hostilities on the Western Front - the end of World War One - which took effect on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
