DETECTIVES are appealing for information and witnesses to help them catch two men who robbed a supermarket in Saffron Walden over the weekend.

The robbery happened just after 8.45pm on Saturday November 12 at the Nisa supermarket in Cromwell Road.

Two white men aged about 17 or 18 entered the shop with large pieces of wood. They took cash from the till and ran off. Both men are believed to have local accents.

The two men wore balaclavas over their heads, so there are no good descriptions of their faces.

One man wore a camouflage greenish jacket and grey gloves with blue jogging bottoms and white trainers. He is described as being of slim build, and about 5ft 4ins tall.

The second man is described as being a little taller, and also of slim build. He wore a full navy-blue tracksuit with grey gloves and a grey hood on his jacket.

The two men made off on foot along Cromwell Road, turned right into Reddings Close, then travelled along a small footpath into Hill Top Lane and St John’s Road.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Detectives stress that crimes of this type are very rare in Uttlesford.”

Anyone with information about this crime or who saw any suspicious behaviour during the time in question, is urged to contact CID at Chelmsford, where the investigating officer is Dc Nichola Priest, by calling 101, or by contacting Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
